Fly storage at Southflyfisher is getting an overhaul, thanks to Tacky Fly Boxes from Fishpond, Colorado USA. Bonefish flies (Pescador Medium Burnt Orange) and big streamers for Tierra del Fuego (Pescador Large Baja Blue) are first up. Good water resistance. Box closures are positive. Likewise my first impressions.
Colorado is also home to the awesome Chimera Terrestrials from the Louisville domiciled Yakoda Supply Company.
First snow has arrived to the mountains encircling Wanaka in New Zealand’s South Island. I’m wistfully browsing local boutique rod maker Epic’s elegant Double Handed 11’ Trout Spey rods as my mind turns to a winter of exploring local river mouths with flamboyant streamers.
On the topic of exploration, my hardcover edition of Hampton Sides’ The Wide Wide Sea: Imperial Ambition, First Contact and the Fateful Final Voyage of Captain James Cook has finally arrived. I am genuinely excited.
