Snow Peak acquires Epic (Swift Fly Fishing)
We’re celebrating more fly fishing news in this week’s The Weekly Five episode #18. A special welcome to our newest subscribers.
“We are pleased to announce that we have acquired Swift Fly Fishing, a New Zealand company that developed the Epic brand.” (translation.) Snow Peak announces their 70% acquisition of shares in this ultra-premium rod maker.
Angler & Youtuber, Mike, does the Trigger Slam on Christmas Island. Moustache, Peachface and Picasso hooked and landing. Worth a watch.
Bauer (owned by Winston) have finally released their new saltwater series of SLT fly fishing reels. These three models offer a quality alternative to the popular Hatch & Nautilus reels at similar price points and reel weights.
Staying on fishing gear, Epic teases some new fly boxes (Instagram link) dropping shortly in a vibrant colour range.
Sadly, Colin McKeown – Founder, Producer and Host of the popular TV series, The New Fly Fisher, has died after a long battle with cancer. Colin’s legacy is 1,700 educational fly fishing videos on YouTube for us to savour.

So sad to hear about the passing of Colin. I had a beer with him and Bill Spicer at the Somerset NJ fly show. Nice guys and class acts all the way.
